Theresa Murphy • USC Verdugo Hills Hospital

We’ve piloted a remote RN position where an experienced RN conducts admissions interviews, medication teaching, and discharge education remotely. This has been a good way to retain experienced RNs who are close to retirement while also reducing bedside nurses’ workload.

David Marshall • Cedars-Sinai

We have launched a voice-enabled nurse assistant that supports voice or text captures of clinical observations. Our 2025 pilot program demonstrated strong adoption and doubled efficiency, so we’re now scaling the technology across additional units.

Scholastica Ogomaka • Kaiser Permanente Baldwin Park

We have launched several pilot programs to support staff and enhance patient care. One initiative involves team-based care to streamline patient care processes and improve outcomes. This collaborative approach fosters better communication, coordination, and efficiency.

Helen Staples-Evans • Loma Linda University Health

We’ve added virtual nurses in acute care areas to complete admissions and discharges, which improves nurse workflow and provides timelier patient throughput. This has already saved the bedside care team hundreds of hours, and patients appreciate the quality of the instructions.

Lesley Wininger • Glendale Memorial Hospital

We recently implemented a new technology for patients who require continuous cardiac monitoring. The new model offers numerous benefits, from enhanced safety to improved operational efficiency.

Alexis Zamarripa • PIH Health Downey Hospital

We encourage staff to identify opportunities for performance improvement, like a new “No Pass Zone” initiative that requires all staff members who see a patient call light to stop and respond. Initiatives like this empower employees to contribute ideas while improving patient experience. ■
