The County is recruiting for Licensed Vocational Nurses I - Corrections who assist physicians, registered nurses and other health specialists in the treatment and care of patients in an adult or juvenile locked correctional facility. Duties include providing basic nursing care; collecting vital signs, blood, and specimens; and administering medications as directed. Incumbents in this class are expected to perform the full range of duties under close supervision while acquiring the experience and skill of a journey-level Licensed Vocational Nurse.
The list established by this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in the Sheriff's (Adult population) and Probation (Youth population). The Sheriff's Department positions are for day, evening and night shifts (with an immediate need for the High Desert).
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a current Licensed Vocational Nurse license with the State of California
- Must possess Basic Life Support certification

Sheriff's Department
The Sheriff's Health Services Division strives for excellence and professionalism, individually, and as a team. Extensive initial orientation and ongoing training is provided to entry level and experienced Registered Nurses to develop the clinical skills specific for correctional healthcare with post orientation mentoring. Correctional Registered Nurses work closely with Sheriff's custody staff as part of a team of partners in healthcare including physicians, dentists, specialists, mental health professionals, and support staff. The San Bernardino County Probation Department has always represented the very best of law and justice agencies throughout the state. The Department supervises and provides case management services for approximately 16,800 adult offenders, and 600 youth offenders.
