The County is recruiting for Licensed Vocational Nurses II - Corrections who assist physicians, registered nurses and other health specialists in the treatment and care of patients in an adult population (Sheriff's) or juvenile/youth population (Probation) locked correctional facility. Duties include providing basic nursing care; collecting vital signs, blood, and specimens; and administering medications as directed.
The list established by this recruitment will be used to fill current and future vacancies in the Sheriff's (Adult population) and Probation (Youth population) departments as they occur while the list remains active. Sheriff's Department positions are for day, evening and night shifts with an immediate need in the High Desert. The Probation department consist of variable shifts, which include days and evenings.
Qualifications
- Must possess and maintain a current Licensed Vocational Nurse license with the State of California
- Must possess one (1) year of recent (within the last 3 years) full-time experience as a Licensed Vocational Nurse
- Must possess and maintain Basic Life Support certification.

Sheriff's Department
The Sheriff's Health Services Division strives for excellence and professionalism, individually, and as a team. Extensive initial orientation and ongoing training is provided to entry level and experienced Registered Nurses to develop the clinical skills specific for correctional healthcare with post orientation mentoring. Correctional Registered Nurses work closely with Sheriff's custody staff as part of a team of partners in healthcare including physicians, dentists, specialists, mental health professionals, and support staff.
