Cancer Nursing Scholarships

The American Cancer Society has introduced several scholarships to support the education and training of advanced practice cancer nurses and nurse scientists. Students pursuing a master’s degree in oncology nursing, a doctorate in nursing practice (DNP) or a research doctorate (Ph.D., DSN, etc.,) with a focus on oncology nursing are eligible to apply. The details for each scholarship are as follows:
Doctoral Scholarship in Cancer Nursing
Candidates must be currently licensed to practice as a registered nurse and enrolled in or applying to an accredited doctoral program. The candidate must project a plan for full-time study that involves cancer nursing and faculty support. The scholarship provides a yearly stipend of $15,000 for two years, but candidates can apply for an extension of two additional years.
Candidates must be licensed to practice as a registered nurse and enrolled in or applying to an accredited graduate nursing degree program in the United States. The candidate must be under the advisement of a faculty member responsible for the oncology component of the nursing curriculum. The scholarship provides a one-year stipend of $10,000, renewable for one additional year.
Applications for the doctoral scholarships must be submitted by Oct. 15, 2012, while applications for the graduate degree scholarships are due by Feb. 1, 2013. Applications must be submitted electronically.
