Do you advocate for nurses? Do you encourage young people to consider nursing as a career? There are lots of ways to do it.

Fits You to a T
By making a contribution of $30 to the Coalition for Nursing Careers in California (CNCC), you can receive a “Proud to Be a Nurse” short-sleeve T-shirt. If you contribute $35 or more, you will receive a long-sleeve shirt. Checks should be made payable to the CNCC and mailed to CINHC, P.O. Box 70007, Oakland, CA 94612.

High School Visits
The coalition sponsors the RN Ambassador program, which seeks to encourage young people to consider nursing as a career. RN Ambassadors — nurses and student nurses — speak positively about the profession at schools where they target young people of all ages who might be thinking about future career choices.

California especially needs this type of outreach because of our ongoing shortage of nurses (California has the least number of registered nurses per 100,000 population in the country), staff/patient ratios and the fact that the workforce does not reflect the diversity of the state.

CNCC is a subsidiary of the California Institute for Nursing and Healthcare, sponsors of the website www.choosenursing.com.
