While they will remain independent health systems, UC Irvine Health and MemorialCare Health System have entered into a new alliance that both hope will expand access to high-quality, cost-effective healthcare in Orange County.

The systems will begin their collaboration by opening new state-of-the-art primary care centers to offer individual and family services, urgent care and basic diagnostic services. The partners say the new alliance will be the only healthcare partnership in the area to include a total continuum of care, from the academic medical center and teaching and research hospitals to a community and children’s hospital and retail health.

The affiliation will also create a fully integrated electronic medical records system that will encompass patient records from all the facilities within the scope of both systems.
