Senior Registered Nurse – QAPI
Job Description
Under general direction and following established medically-approved policies and procedures, the incumbent implements specialized skilled nursing processes pertinent to quality management, patient safety, and performance improvement in designated hospital units of Ventura County Medical Center.Quality Assurance and Performance Improvement Nurse:
The incumbent will support and facilitate quality assurance and performance improvement initiatives aimed at enhancing patient care, safety, and regulatory compliance.
They will collaborate with a multidisciplinary team to improve clinical outcomes, support quality management studies, and ensure continuous compliance with healthcare standards and regulations.
Distinguishing Characteristics:
The Senior Registered Nurse-Hospital is distinguished from other staff nursing classifications in that incumbents demonstrate advanced competency skills reflecting specialized knowledge specific to the assigned hospital unit; participate in performance improvement processes; and provide technical direction. Incumbents are expected to work at the full scope of their licensure/specialty area with a decreasing amount of supervision commensurate with their experience.
Qualifications
EDUCATION, TRAINING, and EXPERIENCE
- Requires two (2) years of experience as a full-time professional registered nurse in a clinical nursing patient care delivery setting, and two (2) years of full-time experience in Quality Improvement.
NECESSARY SPECIAL REQUIREMENTS
- Must possess and maintain a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California
- Must possess a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification
DESIRED
- Bachelor of Science in Nursing and/or master’s degree is strongly preferred.
- Experience leading a multidisciplinary team towards improved outcomes, utilizing evidence-based quality management and reporting tools to enhance operations.
- Experience preparing clear, concise, and comprehensive technical reports.At least one (1) year of experience in a quality, informatics, utilization review, compliance or related position.
- CPHQ certification. If not possessed at hire, should be achieved within 3 years.
