Nurse Practitioner – Oncology, Santa Monica Hospital
Job Description
The NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate “standardized procedures” (SP). By using the SPs the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior and physical condition, and determines if they are abnormal findings (California BRN Nursing Practice Act, subsection(b) of Section 2725).
Serving as a member Serving as a member of the medical care management team, provides advanced nursing care across the continuum of acute care service to patients who are in house on the solid oncology service.
Qualifications
Requirements:
- Current CPR/BLS from American Red Cross or American Heart Association-required
- Current CA RN License-required
- State of California NP, National Certification (i.e. ANCC) in NP Specialty-required
- MSN/DNP in Adult Acute Care NP (AG-ACNP) Specialty-required
- Previous oncology experience -preferred
- Ability to utilize excel, word and other software programsAbility to establish and maintain cooperative and collaborative working relationships with administrative, clinical and academic personnel
- Skill in working independently and following through with minimum directions
- Ability to set prioritiesDemonstrate writing skills to compose logical, detailed and grammatically correct correspondenceDocument patient care in an concise and comprehensive manner
- NP2 : 6+months NP exp
- NP1: less than 6 months exp- must have relevant oncology RN exp
