Job Description

The Radiation Oncology/Brachytherapy NP functions in an interdependent role by implementing the appropriate Standardized Procedures (SPs). By using the SPs, the NP is able to change treatment regimen after observing signs and symptoms of illness, reactions to treatment, general behavior, and physical condition and determines if they are abnormal findings (Ca Nursing Practice Act, subsection (b) of Section 2725).

In collaboration with the supervising physician, attending physicians, fellows, and residents, the NP is responsible for providing independent clinical assessment and patient care management services for patients in the Radiation Oncology Department. The NP will provide and coordinate the care of patients, provide patient/family education, promote safe continuity of care.

The NP also participates in interdisciplinary and clinical rounds, tumor boards, and provides education and support, as well as makes appropriate referrals. Document services rendered.This position is primarily based in Westwood, but may be required to work in Santa Monica and other community sites as needed.

Qualifications

• Current CA Licensure as RN and Nurse Practitioner
• Current CPR/BCLS/ACLS from American Heart Association or American Red Cross
• Master’s or Doctoral Degree in Nursing – NP Specialty.
• National Certification in NP specialty required – (Adult Acute Care NP Specialty -strongly preferred)
