Job Description

Professional Development Coordinator – Senior Registered Nurse serves as the lead coordinator for the hospital’s shared governance nursing program and ensures alignment with ANCC Pathway to Excellence and PTAP standards.

This role provides leadership in integrating Pathway culture into nursing operations, supports strategic planning and program development, and facilitates shared governance at VCMC and SPH. Responsibilities include promoting professional practice, overseeing accreditation and credentialing audits, and advancing nursing excellence through initiatives that support nurse engagement, quality care, and patient satisfaction.

• Facilitates nursing leadership in understanding and integrating ANCC standards into clinical practice.
• Serves as the lead facilitator for shared leadership councils and establishes the Pathway committee to coordinate efforts supporting the Pathway model.
• Keeps administration, management, and staff informed of the hospital’s progress toward meeting Pathway to Excellence standards.
• Oversees the development and delivery of educational materials and presentations for nursing, clinical support staff, and leadership.
• Serves as an educational resource on ANCC standards and the shared leadership model.
• Coordinates Pathway to Excellence gap analysis and develops corrective action plans to address identified deficiencies.
• Leads the preparation, editing, and submission of the Pathway to Excellence application and re-designation documents. 

Qualifications

Education/Experience:  

• Requires two (2) years of full-time experience as a registered nurse performing project management duties (similar to the job duties listed above) in an hospital setting.

Necessary Special Requirements:

• Must possess and maintain a current, valid license as a Registered Nurse issued by the State of California.
• Must have a current, valid Basic Life Support (BLS/CPR) certification by first day of employment.Desired
• Master’s degree in Nursing (from an accredited program)
• Prior work history in an ANCC accredited Pathways or Magnet hospital
• Prior experience working with Shared Governance model
