CNO Roundtable 2024

Chief Nursing Officer Roundtable 2024

Wisdom and advice from California nursing leaders

Compilation of headshot photos from 20 CNOs interviewed in the article.

Twenty nursing executives from local healthcare organizations share their thoughts on issues like bullying, professional development, connecting with staff, and how nurses can learn more about the complex business side of healthcare.

The CNOs responded to the following eight questions:
  1. Your Career Journey: What’s something important you’ve learned about nursing over the course of your career that you didn’t know at the start?
  2. The Next Year: What do you see as the most exciting nursing-related development at your hospital in the next year or so?
  3. Workplace Culture: What strategies have you found most effective in reducing staff bullying and incivility?
  4. Social Media: How can nurse leaders encourage their staff to use social media in a more positive way?
  5. Staff Career Development: What should every nurse leader be doing to promote their nurses’ individual career development?
  6. Connecting With Nurses: What are your most effective ways of connecting with your nurses to understand their priorities and concerns??
  7. AI & Robotics: What are some common concerns you hear from nurses about new technologies like AI and robotics? How do you address those concerns among your own staff?
  8. The Business Side: In past roundtables, CNOs have wished nurses knew more about the business side of healthcare. What would you suggest newer nurses do to educate themselves on that part of the industry?
We appreciate our panel of outstanding nurse leaders. Thank you!
