Charge R.N. II NICU – QVH
The Charge Nurse is responsible for supervising staff and the operation and overall flow of the unit on his/her designated shift, and is a role model for all staff. He/she is responsible for coordinating unit schedules and staff assignments and participating in the performance appraisal process. The Charge Nurse is responsible for ensuring staff meet the approved Standards of Practice, for managing assigned personnel and unit activities and for promoting cooperative working relationships with physicians and other health care providers. Provides patient care as needed. The RN is a professional caregiver who assumes responsibility and accountability for the NICU patient. She/he is a clinical practitioner who coordinates and implements patient care specific for the high risk neonate. She/he ensures that quality care is provided in an efficient and safe manner consistent with the unit's standard of care. Utilizes nursing skills to determine the biophysical, psychosocial, environmental, self care and educational needs of the patient/family/significant other to develop, implement and revise the plan of care.
Qualifications
- Two years of previous NICU experience required. Previous charge nurse experience is preferred. Excellent customer service skills required.
- Current RN license in the State of California. BLS certification required.NRP required within 6 months of date of hire/transfer. Certification in high risk newborns preferred. Annual 1 hour of stroke education required.
